Job Description

Our client is looking for a Trainee Art Technician/Handler to join our busy Art team. The role involves learning all aspects of warehousing, storage, art handling, art packings, freight collection & deliveries and installation services for our prestigious clients. Normal working hours are 09:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, with a one hour break each day.

We require a Trainee Art Technician/Handler - the role involves, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Ensuring safety and protection of artworks at all times.
Warehouse handling.
Placing into and picking artworks from storage.
Collecting and delivering artworks from / to client premises.
Learning & completing condition reports.
Learning installation and de-installation services at client premises and art fairs/exhibitions.
Learning and understanding the packing process.
Export packing training.
Represent the company by demonstrating high levels of customer service and a smart appearance at all times.
Undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by the Manager or Directors.


The knowledge, skills and experience required from our Trainee Art Technician/Handler are:

Essential

Good knowledge of the English language; verbal and written.
Good communication skills; including the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
Be a team player, with the ability to work as a member of the team as well as alongside members of staff from other departments, as required.
Knowledge of IT systems - Word, Excel, Outlook.

Desirable

An interest in Art.
Knowledge of London and the surrounding counties.
Experience in the field of art shipping and logistics.
Knowledge of packing materials and packing methods.
Install and de-install skills.
Problem solving skills.

Due to the nature of the role, there are a number of compulsory checks that must be carried out:

A criminal record check - basic disclosure, carried out by the Disclosure & Barring Service.
A full 5 year reference history, with any gaps in employment scrutinised and accounted for.
