Job Description

Ocean Import Assistant Operations Manager -

To manage the daily forwarding operations controlled in Basildon, providing excellent customer service and communication with customers and internal stakeholders alike.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations.
Manage operational staff and ensure they are adequately coached and trained
Develop and enhance SOW, SLA and SOPs for all clients
Client Liaison and Escalation point for problems.
Review KPIs and ensure we maintain service levels for clients
Support the team in their daily duties.
Monitor haulage failure and late deliveries.
Address failures and analyse root causes.
Implement corrective actions to avoid repetition of failures.
Analyse trends on conformance failures to implement change.
Train new staff in all procedures.
Empower staff and encourage progression.
Identify and implement new procedures.
Identify potential sales opportunities and pass same to BM.
Support Branch Manager.
Log and resolve IT/System issues.
File review and check before final sign off.
Check and approve suppliers invoices.
Assist other branches and departments.

Person Specification:
Good industry knowledge of sea freight operations and documentation.
Knowledge of Customs procedures and formalities.
Full understanding of 3PL and Contract Logistics, warehousing operations.
UK and European Transport operational skills
Full understanding of SOP, SLA and SOWs. Create, develop and enhance.
An open approach to change and improvement.
A pro-active and collaborative approach.
Good people skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Min 5years management/supervisor experience
