The role

We are looking for an Operations Clerk to join our clients team based in Feltham. You will be reporting to the Operations Manager and the role will involve all aspects of freight forwarding with a focus on customer service. Operational excellence with focus on servicing the client and supporting the team in the branch on a day to day basis is a key to this position. The ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment is essential. Primarily Air and Seafreight Imports including Customs entries.

In this role you will need:

To sort, filter and distribute documentation and create and maintain job files in an accurate and timely manner
To deal with all aspects of international and domestic freight movements
To monitor flights and vessel arrival times and inform the customer of delays
To act as a conduit between customers and suppliers to ensure all needs are met within the specified delivery time; to book deliveries & arranging collections
To liaise with overseas offices for shipment movements, taking responsibility for monitoring progress and keeping the customer advised of the status
To update customer reports ensuring accuracy before sending to customers
To complete Customs declarations in line with UK HMRC requirements including collecting Duty and VAT payments and monitoring the use of the deferment facility


About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Minimum of 5 years experience in freight forwarding environment position with current hands-on experience
Educated to GCSE standard (minimum of 5) or equivalent Including Maths and English, also qualifications gained oversees
Ability and confidence to deal with customers on a daily basis, excellent telephone manner and ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and with clients
Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a timely manner
Flexibility in a constantly changing environment with occasional out of hours working required
IT literate (ability to utilise MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc.)
Knowledge of EDI Enterprise Operating System would be an advantage
Effective organisational skills with significant focus on attention to detail

Special Conditions

Whilst travel is not regularly envisaged, employee may be required to travel to other offices for meetings and training.

You must be entitled to work in the UK and be prepared to undertake pre-employment checks including a criminal history check and medical.

Salary GBP25,000 to GBP30,000

The hours are 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday
