Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Director, Intermodal manages and spearheads the Intermodal activities as directed by VP Operations. In this position, Director, Intermodal will develop and maintain network of IMC/RR carriers, provide pricing and rating competencies, optimize operations, drive profitability by focusing on key aspects of P & L and optimize technology to drive scalability and growth.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Managing Intermodal activities as directed by VP Operations, and that includes but not limited to the following key components of the job functions and deliverables:

Ø Develop a strong network of IMC/RR Carriers interested in working with Genpro.
Ø Identify the steps necessary to accomplish open channel goals and objectives for the intermodal profit center.
Ø Make decisions in regards to the intermodal team budget, expenses, costs, and overall profitability.
Ø Instrumental in obtaining ramp to ramp pricing and capacity from major North American railroads.
Ø Develop and expand Drayage relationships and pricing management with both existing and new carriers.
Ø Maximize sales support to meet or exceed Intermodal budgetary objectives.
Ø Maximize operational effectiveness of Intermodal Program by leveraging technology and process re-engineering.
Ø Oversee all orders assigned to department to insure required objectives are being achieved as required by the order.
Ø Direct and manage the allocation of orders to personnel within the department to insure effective resolution to all order requirement.
Ø Oversee the development of carrier and partner database to expand options for service providers making sure they are graded for performance, compliance and maintain updated profile of services.
Ø Act as an Intermodal carrier and equipment subject matter expert across the organization.
Ø Streamline network to improve trailer utilization and develop container network.
Ø Tender and monitor intermodal shipments and continuously support network and secure freight that improves asset utilization.
Ø Travel as necessary to industry seminars, events, etc.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

ü 7-10 years of logistics experience with an emphasis on the intermodal ops/pricing.
ü Management or leadership experience within a non-asset (preferred) or asset based environment.
ü Intimate knowledge of the risks and requirements on various types of freight and trailers.
ü Knowledge of the back office functions needed as it pertains to the Intermodal divisions various types of freight, customers, and trailer types.
ü Extensive Intermodal carrier knowledge, and the experience to logistically execute the book of business.
ü Track record of starting, growing and running a new profit center and the people that have the ability to see the future and the steps necessary to achieve success.
ü Bachelors degree preferred.
ü Extensive background in Intermodal Transportation Brokerage at customer and carrier level
ü Proven P & L Experience
