Our client close to Heathrow is looking for a Branch Manager

Job summary:

The Branch Manager is a multi-responsibility role. They will be fully accountable for all aspects of the branch and the welfare of the building and staff. The position will require a heavy reliance on strong and current operational expertise in all aspects of the operation including the warehouse (where appropriate). The Branch Manager is responsible for the branch offices performance, sustainable growth, and profitability. They will also require a sound knowledge of finance as well as sales. The role requires a very strong desire to deliver high levels and standards of customer service both internal and external, while maintaining maximum efficiencies.

Key Activities:

Operational

·Ensuring the branch is run in accordance with the directives of the Directors

·Responsible for branch operation performance and results, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability

·Responsible for all departments P&L, turnover, profitability including month end reporting and debt collection

·Responsibility for producing the budgets for all departments within the branch

·Overall responsibility to ensure operators and compliant to all areas including HMRC, aviation security and H&S.

·Overall responsibility to develop sales opportunities both new leads and those from existing customers/network

·Responsibility to evaluate each customers worth and act accordingly

·Maximize staff resources and effectiveness (drive efficiency and optimization)

·Ensure the focus of the operational teams is on the customer needs, service delivery and best practice.

·Develop a culture of continuous improvement while building a strong relationship with relevant parties both internal and external

·Identify challenges and provide practical solutions to maintain efficient services

·Control and focus on costs across all aspects of the operation and branch

·Complete understanding of the import/export air/ocean as appropriate for the role

·Manage the subordinate management team including empowering them and giving them strategic directives

·Willingness to work flexible hours as the business requires and to ensure all areas of the operation are run in line with company expectations

·Overall control of personnel recruitment within the branch

·Train new team members to company standards, customer service and job duties

·Any other task as requested by a Director / Manager



Customer Requirement

·Fully understand the customer needs and requirements

·Responsible for growth and development of the Branch through customer development, retention and working closely with Sales to maximise opportunities

·Work closely with other managers to seek improvements

·Constantly look to improve quality and service provided

·Fully understand supply chain from the customers prospectus

·Meet customers and perform guided tours of the facility as required

·Attend external meetings with customers and suppliers as required



Administration

·Perform constant appraisals and evaluation of current practices, procedures and implement changes accordingly

·Always ensure compliance of all required regulations concerning HMRC, ETSF, aviation security, H&S etc

·Hold regular minuted meetings with other managers/key staff

·Develop and maintain KPI data on branch performance (dashboard)

·Managing a team of direct reports in a collaborative manner, ensuring that appraisals, performance management and employee communications are effective, timely and meaningful

·Operate within companies QA system, including clean desk policy

·Planning with the stakeholders (internal and external) for expected future expansion.



Other Responsibilities

·Assist manager/Directors in other projects as appropriate



Preferred Experience:

·Current operational experience/knowledge, predominantly Airfreight Export and Import

·Current management experience with proven record of delivering success

·Sales experience and working knowledge of the international transportation/logistics market and cultural differences

·Familiar with financial aspects of the local economy

·Ability to create commitment, give direction and follow up accordingly

·Quality focus

·Motivate and develop people to implement change

·Committed and enthusiastic

·Ability to think and act strategically



Required Technical Skills:

·AVSEC training (if appropriate)

·Excellent current knowledge of all operational processes, particularly aerospace/AOG

·Has strong financial knowledge and awareness

·Strong knowledge/understanding of matters that require compliance both internal and external.

·Sales knowledge and awareness

·Thorough understanding of customer needs

·Excellent people and communication skills

·Excellent leadership skills

·Confidence to deal with internal and external issues at all levels

·Ability to appraise a given situation and offer credible solutions to improve practices

·Ability to implement the solution and make it work

·Ability to work under pressure

·Self-motivating

·Extensive knowledge of HMRC procedures

·Knowledge of transport providers including airlines, shipping lines and UK hauliers, their products, and services

·Excellent computer literacy including CargoWise and MS products

The hours are 9am to 5.30pm M to F but flexibility is required



Salary up to GBP60K plus car allowance and bonus
