Shifts Available:
Day Shift: Monday Friday | 06:00 17:00
Night Shift: Monday Friday | 17:00 04:00
Some weekend work may be required.
Shift patterns will be discussed further at interview stage.
Pay Rate: GBP14.00 per hour
The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Large Shovel Driver to operate heavy plant machinery involved in the movement and loading of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and waste materials. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Shovel Operations
Keep SRF conveyors clear and free from contamination
Load the correct SRF material into designated trailers
Maintain separation of different SRF grades
Inspect and clean trailers before and after loading
Waste Handling
Feed waste consistently into the shredder
Remove oversized or damaging items prior to shredding
Manage the tipping hall and assist with efficient vehicle unloading
Identify and report unsuitable or poor-quality waste loads
Machine Maintenance
Carry out daily vehicle and machinery checks
Clean and inspect the shovel regularly
Refuel and grease machinery as required
Monitor oil and AdBlue levels
Clean filters and cab areas at the end of each shift
Additional Duties
Operate other machinery where certified to do so
Support with general site duties when machinery is not in operation
Requirements
Previous experience operating large shovels or heavy plant machinery (essential)
Valid plant operator certification such as CPCS or NPORS (preferred)
Knowledge of SRF and waste handling operations
Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
Reliable, hardworking, and physically fit
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
