Job Title: General Manager Fine Art Logistics

Location: Near Heathrow Airport, UK

Salary: GBP65,000 GBP80,000 per annum (dependent on experience)



About the Role

A premier global fine art logistics and freight forwarding specialist is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and strategic direction at their primary Heathrow facility.



This role requires a high-caliber operational leader with deep expertise in fine art shipping, high-value logistics, and international freight forwarding. You will take full operational, financial, and team leadership responsibility for the Heathrow hub, ensuring immaculate service delivery to world-renowned museums, commercial galleries, auction houses, and private collectors.



Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership: Direct and optimize daily warehouse, packing, transport, and freight forwarding operations to maintain exceptional service standards for high-value cargo.



Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and build a multidisciplinary team including fine art technicians, export/import coordinators, logistics managers, and warehouse personnel.



Financial & Commercial Control: Oversee the P&L for the Heathrow hub, drive operational cost efficiencies, and contribute to budget planning and revenue growth targets.



Compliance & Security: Ensure total compliance with international customs regulations (Import/Export, CITES, ATA Carnets), aviation security standards, and strict fine art security protocols.



Client & Key Account Oversight: Serve as a senior escalation point for key accounts, ensuring seamless coordination for major exhibitions, art fairs, and complex international movements.



Vendor & Network Management: Oversee relationships with key external stakeholders, including airlines, ground handlers, customs agents, and overseas fine art partners.



Required Skills & Qualifications

Industry Experience: Proven track record in a senior operational or management role within Fine Art Forwarding or specialized high-value freight forwarding.



Location & Proximity: Must be based within commutable distance of the Heathrow logistics corridor.



Customs & Compliance Expertise: Deep understanding of UK export/import procedures, temporary admission, ATA Carnets, CITES regulations, and air freight security protocols.



People Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage, train, and motivate diverse operational teams in a fast-paced environment.



Financial Acumen: Strong commercial insight with hands-on experience managing operational budgets and P&L performance.



Communication: Outstanding stakeholder management skills with a client-centric approach to complex problem-solving.



What Is Offered

Competitive Base Salary: GBP65,000 GBP80,000 per annum.
