Import / Export / Ocean Freight / Sea Freight 

We are seeking a Sea Freight Import Operator who is ambitious and willing to learn exports and airfreight.

This is a fantastic opportunity for progression to run the Sea Freight Department within a employee owned Freight Forwarding business.

The successful candidate will have solid practical experience within Sea Freight start to finish, and the ability to build strong customer and supplier relationships.  

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Manage ocean and air freight import/export shipments from booking through to final delivery, including LCL and FCL shipments.

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinate bookings with shipping lines, freight agents, hauliers and overseas partners.

  
  


• 
  

  Prepare, check and process shipping and customs documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinate customs clearance, collections and final deliveries, while monitoring shipments and providing timely customer updates.

  
  


• 
  

  Resolve operational issues, delays, documentation discrepancies and customer queries proactively.

  
  


• 
  

  Obtain, compare and negotiate competitive freight rates and prepare accurate customer quotations.

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure all costs, sales charges, supplier invoices and operational files are accurate and up to date.

  
  


• 
  

  Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, overseas agents and hauliers.

  
  


• 
  

  Support, guide and supervise the ocean freight team.

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure operations comply with company procedures and relevant customs, shipping and regulatory requirements.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with air freight and international courier shipments as required.

  
  


• 
  

  Contribute to continuous improvement of operational processes and customer service standards.

  
  

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 12 months' experience in ocean freight forwarding.


• Practical experience managing both import and export shipments.


• Hands-on experience with LCL and FCL operations.


• Good working knowledge of ocean and air freight documentation, processes and procedures.


• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.


• Good knowledge of customs procedures and international freight regulations


• Ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines and priorities effectively.
