- Operations Manager - Freight Forwarding
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join a well-established, professional small to medium-sized freight forwarding agent.
We are looking for an experienced freight professional with a strong operational background, particularly within Road Freight, together with a good understanding of Air and Ocean freight.
Role will be managing a team of around 8 operational staff plus 2-3 warehouse operatives
This is a hands-on role within a friendly and professional business, where you will play an important part in the day-to-day running of the operation and have the opportunity to make a real impact.
The Role
·Managing the day-to-day freight operations across Road, Air and Ocean
·Taking responsibility for the smooth movement of shipments from start to finish.
·Managing bookings, documentation and shipment updates.
·Liaising with customers, suppliers, hauliers and overseas agents.
·Ensuring shipments are managed efficiently and delivered within agreed timescales.
·Dealing with any operational issues and providing effective solutions.
·Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
·Working closely with the wider team to ensure a high level of customer service.
About You
·The ideal candidate will have:
·Strong operational experience within freight forwarding/logistics.
·A solid background in Road Freight.
·A good working understanding of Air and Ocean freight.
·Excellent communication and organisational skills.
·The ability to work independently and take ownership of shipments.
·A customer-focused and proactive approach.
·Good knowledge of import/export procedures and freight documentation.
·Experience working within a freight forwarding environment.
