- Our client is recruiting for an Export Gateway Operator at their Heathrow office. This role will report to the Export Gateway manager and help carry out the daily task in the Gateway. The Gateway department is very dynamic and fast paced. So if like to work in a department with a lot of different tasks on a daily basis this job is for you.
Key Tasks
·Process and consolidate export airfreight shipments during night operations.
·Ensure accurate and timely completion of export documentation (AWBs, manifests, customs entries) ensuring high level of detail on data quality.
·Liaise with airlines, handling agents, and internal teams for flight bookings and space confirmations.
·Monitor and update shipment status in the system.
·Handle security screening compliance and ensure cargo meets airline along with both origin and destination country regulatory requirements.
·Resolve operational issues promptly to avoid delays.
·Maintain system data related to both external and internal cost control
·Maintain communication with overseas offices and customers as required.
Duties / Responsibilities
·Prepare and check export documentation for accuracy and compliance.
·Build and break down ULDs (Unit Load Devices) as per airline specifications.
·Input data into freight management systems and maintain accurate records.
·Coordinate with warehouse teams for cargo handling and loading.
·Verify and apply correct rates and charges for shipments.
·Ensure adherence to company SOPs and industry regulations (IATA, CAA, HMRC).
·Maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance in all documentation and processes.
·Ensure all shipments meet security and customs requirements before departure.
·Proactively identify and escalate potential delays or issues.
·Safeguard company assets and customer cargo during handling.
·Support continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and service quality.
·Adhere to health & safety and security protocols at all times.
Skills and Competencies
·Previous Export Air Experience.
·Be Customer focused with dedication in your service to deliver high quality service.
·Ability to maintain positive mind-set when working under pressure, re-prioritising workload where necessary.
·Be reliable with the ability to multitask and have strong problem-solving skills.
·Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and numeracy.
·Excellent IT skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly as required. Knowledge to CW1 would be preferred.
·Excellent communication skills both verbal/written with a polite, courteous, and professional telephone manner.
hours are 4on 4off 7pm to 7am
Salary up to GBP35K depending on experience plus GBP3,500 shift allowance
