The Shipping Clerk performs and executes export and import shipping tasks to ensure a smooth shipping process.


Principal Accountabilities
Process export cargo shipments to support efficient operations; including arrange bookings with airports, organize cargo collection with SDMs, complete relevant paperwork (collection, airline, shipping), liaise with customers, and send pre-alerts and forward paperwork to cargo receiving locations
Process import cargo shipments to support efficient operations; including process shipment alerts and files, obtain clearance instructions, enter customs clearance, alert Service Delivery Manager (SDM) of cargo arrival, liaise with customers, and organize shipments for delivery (via SDMs or operations transport Crew directly)
Carry our general administrative tasks including shipment filing, provision of documentation to customers
Provide consultation and advice to customers regarding customs clearance queries and documentation to ensure efficient shipment of cargo
Conduct oneself with accountability, customer focus, and demonstrate trust in ones actions to contribute

Knowledge & Experience
Minimum of 5 grades A-C at GCSE, including Math and English or equal to this
Previous experience in shipping role is an asset
Strong English language proficiency
IT literate (Microsoft Office packages)

Complete bookings and sales according to both Customer & client timescales.
To ensure data & security integrity of both Customer & client information is always controlled.
Co-ordinate with other offices & Groups.
Co-ordinate transport with both UK & Overseas approved strategic service partners.
To provide guidance on appropriate paperwork for customs clearance.
Prepare & co-ordinate all forms of freight documentation including airway bills, Shipping Certificates, Health Certificates, Import & Export Licenses, Customs Entry Documentation and any other supporting shipping documentation.
Prepare & complete Customs Control submissions for Imports & Exports.
To work with all types of cargo and all necessary associated tasks.
To use company vehicles on occasion to deliver and collect paperwork and or shipments.
To undertake any training courses required to understand and complete job tasks.
To co-ordinate Group project tasks as and when directed.

We are seeking to recruit a SEAFREIGHT IMPORT/EXPORT OPERATOR to join a busy Freight Forwarding office based in Halesowen, West Midlands.

The role of Seafreight Import/Export Operator is to handle Seafreight Import OR Export operations from start to finish, for both FCL & LCL shipments. In return the package available is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on level of experience), working Monday -Friday and based in West Midlands (B62)

Duties will include:

  • Making bookings with customers Agents, Shipping Lines, Hauliers.
  • Raising Export Shipping Documentation
  • Processing Import shipments
  • Inputting Export Customs Entries
  • Completing all freight administration
  • Keeping updated with customers and carriers at all times.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidate who have previous Freight Forwarding experience, or who has worked in Import OR Export Shipping on behalf of a manufacturer and would like to move over to Freight Forwarding.

The role will be to check, update and input information regarding international shipments for large Key Account customers. Responding to queries from internal and external customers, investigating errors, responding to emails and ensuring systems and spreadsheets are all up to date with accurate shipping information.

The positions requires a candidate with excellent attention to detail skills, strong Excel skills and ideally previous experience of Shipping, Supply Chain, and Logistics. This position would also suit a Graduate in International Business Administration or Supply Chain & Logistics.

The position will be office based in Birmingham (B6) during training and then be a split between office and home based.

We are looking for an Operations Agent to work within our expanding ocean and air team based in Staplehurst. Reporting into our head of Field Sales and working collaboratively with ocean and air products this core role will focus on identifying, sourcing, developing, enhancing, and maximising new business opportunities to ensure we are supporting our business growth plan. In addition to this, we are looking for someone who understands the operational element of freight forwarding.

To clearly understand the demands of shipping hazardous goods via Air and Sea whilst generating the relevant paperwork for consignments of this nature.
Ensure timely bookings within ocean and air freight forwarding on customers behalf.
Prepare export documentation including data entry in accordance with the Countries requirements.
Ongoing communication with customers within the UK and overseas offices regarding the movement of shipments.
Preparation of certificates of origin, cargo manifest, customs clearance documentation, hazardous material and any other. documentation required for the processing of goods internationally.
Prepare export and import documentation and implementation into our internal system.
Raise spot quotations for both Ocean and Air freight forwarding whilst generating revenue for the business.
Dangerous Goods/ADR training highly desirable.
Demonstrable experience within ocean and air freight forwarding.
Team player with a collaborative approach and willing to share expertise.
Strong commercial focus and acumen with strong influencing skills.
Highly proactive self-starter with a high level of self-initiative.

Tasks:
