Job Title: Baler Operative
Shift: Monday - Friday, alternative weekends for Baler Maintenance
Hours: 5pm - 6am

Job Purpose:
The Baler Operative is responsible for:
1. Ensuring the Plant is available for operation at all times by the effective management and baling of the material bunkers.
2. To ensure all product to be baled is of a suitable quality for resale, raising any quality concerns with the Shift Supervisor immediately.
3. Ensure all bales produced are of an acceptable condition, size and nature for resale.
4. Ensure all bales produced are Quality Controlled prior to stacking ready for dispatch.
5. To ensure the Forklift Operative is aware of the need to remove bales from the baler as and when required.
6. The daily maintenance of the baler, associated material bunkers and conveyor belts.
7. To be responsible for any housekeeping issues within the baler area, ensuring the environment is kept clean and clear of debris.
8. To ensure any waste bales produced are fed immediately back into the waste reception area or split and fed into the back end hopper for shredding. Ensuring the forklift driver is made aware of the waste bales and where to dispose of them and the need to remove all wires.
Baler Operative job duties:
· Complete daily maintenance check sheets in full;
· Keep baler, material bunkers and associated conveyors in a clean and tidy manner;
· Make the shift supervisor aware of any product not of a suitable quality.
· Make sure the baler area is kept clean and in a safe condition, sweeping up and removing any material spillages etc.
· Raise any issues with the baler immediately to the Shift Supervisor ensuring all remedial works are conducted to the Baler Operators satisfaction.
· Maintain and manage baling wire stocks, alerting the Shift Supervisor of low wire stock no less than 2 weeks before the wire runs out.
· Ensure the Bale QC operative is covering every bale produced ensure all visible traces of contamination are removed prior to the bales being stacked ready for dispatch.
· To assist where appropriate with the SRF production area helping to keep it in a suitable condition for SRF production and dispatch.
All plant operatives must leave their machine in a clean and suitable condition for the following shift. This will include:
· Hydraulic Oils
· Greasing the machine up in full
· Blowing down all parts ensuring fans and radiators are free of dust and debris.

All Plant Operatives if certified or required may be requested to operate the other plant items as and when required. When the plant is not operating, all plant operatives will be required to perform other duties.
