Job Title: Multiskilled Operative (360 & Shovel Operator)
Location: Staines
Shift: Monday - Friday Nights (17:00-04:00)
Pay: GBP15 per hour

Job Purpose:
To operate heavy mobile plant equipment (360 Material Handler and Large Shovel) in the safe, efficient handling of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and waste reception materials. You will ensure continuous feed to the shredder, maintain plant cleanliness, monitor material quality, and support fire safety and maintenance routines.

Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling & Shredder Support
· Uniformly feed materials into the Metso shredder for maximum production.
· Pre-blend in-feed materials and remove bulky, contaminated, or unsuitable items.
· Keep tipping hall clear by managing feedstock heaps and supporting efficient waste offloading from delivery vehicles.
· Monitor and report shredder throughput issues; assist with blockages as needed.

SRF Operations
· Keep SRF shredder discharge conveyor clear.
· Ensure SRF remains free from contamination and loaded correctly by grade/type.
· Keep different SRF products separate at all times.
· Inspect trailers before/after loading; complete paperwork and clear debris post-load.
· Maintain communication with the weighbridge for correct loading.

Machine Maintenance & Safety
· Complete daily plant check sheets for the 360 and shovel.
· Keep the cab and machine clean; blow out filters, radiator, and cab as needed.
· Refuel machines with Diesel and AdBlue; check and top up oils.
· Fully grease machines at end of shift and ensure readiness for the next operator.
· Report mechanical issues and damage (including concrete wall integrity).
· Carry out fire watch duties and respond to any fire incidents as per procedures.

Additional Duties
· Operate other plant machinery (if certified) as needed.
· Perform general duties when equipment is not in use.
· Participate in weekend loading rota on a shared basis with other operators.

Qualifications & Skills
· Experience operating large shovels and/or 360 handlers (essential).
· Valid plant operation certification (e.g., CPCS, NPORS) preferred.
· Knowledge of SRF and waste handling best practices.
· Good understanding of health & safety procedures.
· Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
· Team player with clear communication skills.
