Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Import Operations Specialist to manage end-to-end freight movements, ensuring efficient and compliant handling of import shipments. The successful candidate will have strong operational knowledge across air and sea freight, along with hands-on experience in customs clearance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
·Manage end-to-end freight shipments from booking through to final delivery
·Prepare and issue accurate customer quotations
·Coordinate closely with overseas agents and partners
·Complete and process import customs entries using CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
·Ensure all shipments comply with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) regulations
·Handle shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
·Monitor shipment progress and resolve any operational issues or delays
Requirements
·Previous experience in airfreight operations (seafreight experience also required)
·Strong understanding of end-to-end freight forwarding processes
·Experience with import customs procedures and documentation
·Working knowledge of CDS and the UK Customs Regulations
·Excellent organisational and communication skills
·Ability to work independently in an office-based environment
Desirable Skills
·Experience working with multiple international trade lanes
·Knowledge of tariff classification and import duties
·Familiarity with Incoterms
