About the Role
An established global logistics provider is looking for a Freight Operator - Aerospace to join their fast-paced operations team. In this role, you will coordinate end-to-end international Air and Road freight shipments while preparing competitive customer quotations and supporting commercial pricing activities. You will serve as the primary operational link between customers, carriers, and overseas partners to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective logistics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
·Shipment Coordination: Manage import, export, and cross-trade shipments from initial booking to final delivery. Arrange collections, carrier bookings, and transport services while proactively resolving delays.
·Pricing & Commercial Support: Prepare accurate freight quotations for Air and Road shipments. Source carrier rates, calculate freight costs, apply agreed margins, and support spot-quote requests to maximize profitability.
·Customer Service: Act as the primary operational point of contact for clients, delivering regular progress updates and building strong relationships.
·Documentation & Compliance: Issue and validate key transport documentation, including Air Waybills (AWB), CMRs, customs declarations, and supporting paperwork in full compliance with customs regulations and customer SOPs.
·Carrier & Supplier Management: Book transport with airlines, hauliers, and approved suppliers, monitoring performance to maintain agreed service levels.
·Financial Management: Execute timely customer invoicing, manage accurate cost accruals, verify supplier invoices, and safeguard shipment margins.
Requirements
·Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in freight forwarding, transport, or logistics operations.
·Core Expertise: Proven track record in coordinating Air and Road freight shipments, preparing freight quotations, and securing supplier rates.
·Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of Incoterms, customs entry procedures, export declarations, and shipping documentation.
·Technical Skills: Proficiency with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
·Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail, commercial awareness, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
·Education: Vocational qualification or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business is preferred.
