Our client is a specialist international freight forwarder with a strong reputation for handling high-value, sensitive and time-critical shipments worldwide.
They are looking for an experienced Operations Coordinator to join their team, managing the end-to-end movement of high-value goods across international import and export shipments.
This is a hands-on operational role suited to someone with experience within freight forwarding, logistics or international transport, who understands the importance of accuracy, security, communication and attention to detail when handling valuable consignments.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate international import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
Manage the end-to-end movement of high-value, sensitive and time-critical goods.
Liaise with airlines, road transport providers, overseas agents, customs brokers and handling partners.
Prepare, check and maintain accurate shipping and customs documentation.
Monitor shipments throughout their journey and provide customers with regular updates.
Arrange collections, deliveries, transfers and onward transportation in line with agreed schedules.
Ensure all shipment information is accurate, including weights, dimensions, routing, values and handling requirements.
Coordinate customs clearance requirements and resolve any documentation or clearance issues.
Proactively identify and manage potential delays, discrepancies or operational issues.
Maintain a high level of security and confidentiality when handling valuable or sensitive consignments.
Ensure shipments are handled in accordance with client instructions and internal operating procedures.
Obtain and review transport and service quotations where required.
Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure systems are updated throughout the process.
Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and overseas partners.
Assist with resolving operational queries, claims, discrepancies and delivery issues.
Work closely with the wider operations team to maintain excellent service levels.
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in freight forwarding, international logistics or a similar operations environment, with a strong understanding of import and export procedures.
You will be highly organised and comfortable managing multiple shipments simultaneously. Given the nature of the goods being handled, attention to detail, discretion and a strong sense of responsibility are essential.
Experience handling high-value, fine art, luxury, technology, jewellery, automotive, aerospace or other specialist cargo would be highly advantageous.
Key Skills & Experience
Previous experience in freight forwarding or international logistics operations.
Good understanding of import and export processes.
Experience coordinating international shipments from booking through to delivery.
Strong knowledge of shipping and customs documentation - CDS
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
Confident using freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office.
Experience with high-value or specialist cargo is desirable.
A proactive approach to problem solving.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced international environment.
