Job Description
Freight Manager
· Manage staff within the freight forwarding business to improve performance
· Managing existing client relationships to understand their requirements and ensure their needs are met.
· Bring on board new customers and agent networks to drive growth
· Review and streamline processes within the business to ensure we meet client expectations and increase efficiency
· Take ownership of contracts with customers and suppliers to ensure these are in place and comply with group requirements
· Monitoring performance of activities using key metrics and reporting to senior management.
· Assisting with setting, managing and monitoring financial targets and budget development.
. Onboard new customers
2. Develop agency networks to bring in referral business
3. Pick up work to ensure that tasks completed to deadlines, and provide holiday cover, including where necessary
a. Manage bookings with ocean and air freight on customer behalf
b. Prepare export documentation including data entry in line with country requirements
c. Ongoing communication with customers regarding movement of shipments
d. Prepare import documents
e. Enter data on our internal questions
f. Raise quotations for work
4. Line management of existing freight team
5. Training of staff
6. Improve profitability and efficiency
7. Convert other group companies to AGF services
8. Convert customers of other group companies to AGF services
Dangerous goods training required
General competence in Ocean, air & road haulage
Previous roles in medium sized freight forwarder
Experience of hazardous goods and other relevant certifications including IATA
Good networking and communication skills
Management skills
Can bring new business and develop strategy Positive thinker
